Global destination preferences
for students w/o STEMP experiences (n=58)

Students who had yet to undertake a short-term educational mobility program (STEMP) were invited to rank their destination preferences on a global scale. Europe emerged as the top contender, with East Asia following closely behind. Southeast Asia ranked fourth behind Europe, East Asia and North America.

When asked to express the level of interest (on a scale of 1 to 5) tto visit East Asia and Southeast Asia for STEMPs, students exhibited a stark preference for East Asia over Southeast Asia.

Japan, Korea and Taiwan emerged as the top 3 preferred destinations among students without any STEMP experiences.

Vietnam, Thailand and Malaysia emerged as the top 3 preferred destinations among students without any STEMP experiences.

Among students who had STEMP experience(s) in non-Asian destinations only, Southeast Asia continued to trail behind East Asia as a destination for STEMPs.

Korea, Japan and Taiwan emerged as the top 3 preferred destinations among students who had only visited non-Asian destinations for their STEMPs.
